Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is also referred to as Tapping. It works by connecting the brain to the body to release negative or unwanted thoughts and feelings. Whilst tapping on specific meridian points on your body in a certain order, you say what is it that’s bothering you out loud to give them a voice and help release the negative energy they have created. This ultimately results in a more relaxed physical and mental state and creates room for pleasant thoughts and feelings to develop. Some people describe EFT as psychological acupressure. What I like most about it, and why I use it regularly with my clients, is that it helps tackle problems head on without trying to avoid them with flowery affirmations and distraction techniques. Distraction isn’t ultimately going to help you resolve your problems and create change in your life but it is often what people turn to first when they are unhappy with life (think of the spouse that goes down the pub because they can’t stand being at home for example). So EFT helps get to the root of the issue and surface (or release) any subconscious feelings or that may have been having a detrimental impact on the way you experience life today. If you don’t think that Hypnotherapy is for you, and have tried talking therapy already, then EFT might be the solution you are looking for. You are fully conscious when performing EFT, there is no need to close your eyes, it’s fast, safe and you can do it anywhere. Here are some of the things it can help with:

  • Eating issues
  • Habits and addictions
  • Persistent pain
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Stress & anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Hurt & abuse
  • Guilt & shame

EFT helps break habits, calms the central nervous system, reduces cortisol levels and lowers blood pressure. It is very easy to learn and the results are usually felt quickly.
